Vintage Gold-Leaf Burmese Lacquerware Medicine Box from Myanmar

Description

Vintage Burmese Shwe Zawa Lacquerware Medicine Box. The gilt and lacquered container comprised of a large central compartment surrounded by twelve smaller ones, each topped by a monk figure or unique Nat spirit. The figures lift off to reveal hollow cavities used to store herbs, spices and traditional medicines. Size: 10.5'' x 9'' x 9'' (27 x 23 x 23 cm). Together with a small Buddha head, in composite or clay. Size: 3'' x 2.5'' x 2.5'' (8 x 6 x 6 cm).
