Description
You are biddingon one Tiffen Series VII or Series 7 lens adapter ring with one retaining ring as pictured.
Included are:
--- an adapter ring marked "54 M 7 TIFFEN ADAPTER RING SERIES 7 USA". This ring has male 54 mm threads on one side, and it has female Series 7 threads on the opposite side. 54 mm was an uncommon filter size. 54mm threads are close but not the same size and pitch as Series VII threads.
--- a retaining ring, which is unmarked. It has male Series 7 threads on one side, and female Series 7 threads on the opposite side.
--- and the original cardboard box.
T
he rings are aluminum.
Condition of the adapter and retaining rings is excellent, appearing to be NOS or New Old Stock and never used. The box shows some wear from handling.
If you are not familiar with Series adapters and filters, these were made by Kodak and Tiffen and many others years ago. The filters were made in a few standard sizes, normally with no threads on the filter, and then the filter was attached to your lens with a special adapter. If the outer end of your lens had threads, you would buy the adapter with that thread size. If the outer end of your lens didn't have threads, or you couldn't find the right size, you could buy adapters that
had little "fins" to hold them, and they were simply pushed onto the lens. Once you had the adapter for your lens, you could put any filter into that adapter. And you needed a retaining ring to hold the filter in the adapter. Some of the retaining rings were threaded on both ends, so that a second filter or a lens hood could be stacked on.
The filter diameter for Series VII is 50.8 mm, or about 2". Again, those filters don't have any threads.
SHIPPING: Under 1 pound, shipped in a padded envelope. N

I sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography!
The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching my auctions as I have LOTS more to list! Or if there is something specific that you are looking for, please let me know so that I can get it listed for you to consider.
Searching my listings: I have lots to see! Some of you will undoubtedly enjoy browsing through everything, but if you want to hone in on something specific, I suggest you click on the "Visit Store" link. That is located at the bottom of the gray Seller Information box in the upper right of this listing. That will lead you to my extensive system of categories.
You might ask: How can I know when you start new listings? The answer: please click the "Sign Up For Newsletter" link that is just above and to the left of this description, and you will get an email every Friday with my new listings, as well as an email whenever I put any of my Buy It Now items on sale.
ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around.
RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. And if you have made an error, and bought the wrong size, for example, I will still take care of you (but I’ll let you pay the return shipping!).
SHIPPING INSIDE THE US: I would rather that you spend your money on my stuff, and not on shipping. So I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based on what is the least expensive, and what is needed to protect the item. I package well, and have a great track record of getting everything to each buyer, and getting it there in one piece. I use the US Post Office for everything, and I often find it is cheaper to use their Priority Mail flat rate boxes for heavier items.
The US Post Office has five sizes of their Flat Rate boxes, plus padded Flat Rate envelopes. For each size the postage stays the same regardless of weight, with a 70 pound limit within the US and a 20 pound limit for international shipments. If the item is over 0, I have to buy extra insurance, and if the item is over 0, eBay encourages all sellers to require a signature upon delivery, which costs extra. The shipping charges are a combination of postage, extra insurance if applicable, and signature confirmation if applicable.
SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is rapidly becoming a reality in more and more states.
If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for that state.
There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.
SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.
AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.
PURCHASING MULTIPLE ITEMS: Wherever it makes sense, I will combine your purchases to save on shipping. But you have to WAIT for me to put together your invoice, as the eBay computer cannot do that automatically.
USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASE AS OF January. Every year the US Postal Service raises rates in mid to late January, and this year is no exception.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally, other than occasionally to Canada. I have told the eBay computer NO International shipping, but if you are in Canada, email me for a postage quote first, and if that works, I can change the listing to allow shipments to Canada only.
MY POLICY ON CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. And I will not reduce the value, declare your purchase to be a gift, or in any way be dishonest on the customs declaration. If I were willing to be dishonest on the customs declaration, shouldn’t you be worried that I might be willing to be dishonest somewhere else?
PACKAGING: Please check my feedback -- I package well. I figure if you take the time to purchase from me, then I can take the time to package it well, and not just throw it into a cereal box with a scrap of newspaper.
I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
If you have questions about anything I have listed, especially about how to pay for your new treasure, please ask. Good luck!
