    FIGURE OF A PRAYING MONK.
    CIRCA 1950'S

    EARLIER.
    HE IS ONE OF THE BUDDHA'S
    TWO CHIEF DISCIPLES;
    AND WOULD HAVE STOOD
    ALONGSIDE
    THE BUDDHA.
    SEATED IN A KNEELING
    POSITION, WHILE PRAYING
    FEET TUCKED BENEATH HIS
    BODY, FACE IN AN EXPRESSION OF
    EXTREME HAPPINESS
    OR ECSTASY.
    A BEAUTIFUL PIECE
    OF LACQUERWARE AND INLAID
    WITH GLASS JEWELS.
