    Description

    This piece is an early 20th century Burmese/Thailand marionette puppet, representing the Hindu God Hanuman. This puppet has a wooden underbody with jointed fingers and jaw, and a carved painted head with a grimacing monkey face and a decorative headdress. The red fabric costume is sequined at the cuffs, collar, and apron. This puppet has a fabric tail and strings attached but tangled. Chips and paint loss from age and wear.
