    Description

I have 4 different items in Burmese Red Lacquer up for sale.  This is #3 of 4
This is a Lahpet box tray and cover, a Burmese item that was traditionally used in homes to present guests with a selection of pickled tea (Lahpet).  Its about 9 inches in diameter with 7 separate "betel-nut" trays inside - and its about 2 1/4 inches tall.   Made from wood, hand-made and hand-lacquered with traditional red and black, with a little green and yellow. There are 5 dancers on a stage with an "orchestra" depicted on the cover and some Burmese writing on the side.  The interior of the cover and tray is undecorated red lacquer.  The bottom of the box is undecorated black with 5 small feet. It has no cracks in the finish and the interior is perfect. There was a damaged spot on the edge of the cover which was repaired to protect it. Please see the "before" and "after" detail pictures and you can see the repaired part on the left side of photo #1.
My family lived in Burma in the 1970's so its at least that old, but most likely much older. I think we used it as a holder for small items like coins, matches, etc.  Please see all the pictures!
PRICE INCLUDES SHIPPING COST.    No returns on this item.
