    Rare Antique Burmese AMAY GYAN Nat Spiritual Mother Saint , 19thC Wood Curio
    Amay Gyanis a prominent Burmese nat (spiritual being). She is one of the five mother nats of Burma. The festival of Amay Gyan is held each year on the 13th and 14th waning days of the month of Nayon of the Burmese calendar (May or June), in Ayegyigon, Mandalay Region.
    This sculpture is all carved wood. The main part is carved out of a tree log. The arms and hands are carved wood attached with nails. It has a carved raised decoration similar to nats carved in the 1800s.
    This sculpture has been painted several times and there is paint loss. The most recent repaint is the face. The comb in the hair has been repainted the same color as the hair.
    Measures 21 inches high. 12 inches wide x 12 inches deep.
