Rare and historical, "July 1952, A Humorous Letter to Grant Mills, From Cal Tinney, Actor, Journalist from Oklahoma
    ."
    Grant Mills
was a Broadway Actor in New York city in the first half of the 20th century.  We know from research on the Internet that he performed in a popular play in 1929, called "Once in a Lifetime."  And we know that later in 1934-35 he was a supporting member of the cast for "Merrily We Roll Along," and he played the lead in a theatre production of the play "Janie" at the Mansfield Theatre in In the fall of 1943.  And he spent a short time with a gig in England. Still Grant Mills couldn't have been too well known, since Google and Wikipedia have very little information about him.
Up for auction here is a letter from
    Cal Tinney
.  It is written on the letterhead of "The CT Ranch" located in Talala Oklahoma.   Before you read the letter in the photos above, you should probably be aware that Cal Tinney was popular as a guest on many a radio show in the early days.  Self-styled the "barnyard artist, and hog editor," he dispensed his homespun humor in the form of a newscast.  He was frequently compared to Will Rogers.  Later as an actor, he had a bit part in The Missouri Traveler (1958), and in Bat Masterson (1958.)  A google search brings up several photos of him.
So back to the letter.   It was written on July 6, 1942.   Clearly it was written in jest from one friend to another.   I certainly gives us a perfect example of his own special type of humor.  Though for the life of me, I can not say what the purpose of the letter was, other than to keep in touch with his friend.   Pay special attention to his "sign-off."  You have to be very comfortable in your own skin to use that closing (on page 2.)
This letter is in excellent condition. It is written on nice stationary with his CT Ranch logo at the top.  It has no flaws to speak off, although the paper does have some wavering and folds. (It was originally sent tri-folded.)
